Desire and Passion

If you are going to do anything you must have passion and a strong desire. Without these motivating factors, you will not achieve your goals and ultimately your vision. Goals set without your heart, soul, and emotions engaged will not materialise. You will not have the motivation and energy to follow through to your vision.

What feeling do you get when you think of your goals?  Do you feel any response from your body at all?  Is the emotion warm, cold, scary, or exciting? How strong is that feeling on a scale of 1 to 10?

Be honest about your level of excitement or fear. The higher the number, the greater the motivation you will have to either achieve your goal – and the lower the number, the more likely you are to create the barriers that will stop you from achieving your objective.

Just because you have some fear or apprehension doesn’t mean you will fail. Your emotions could be positive even if you are feeling a little scared. That’s okay.  However, if you have a negative gut reaction, you need to pay attention.

You’ll  know a negative reaction when you feel one. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, think about eating something you don’t like – now that’s what I’m talking about!

A negative reaction to a potential challenge will produce little desire and passion to achieve the goal.  So a negative feeling of 1 or 2 will certainly produce a less satisfying result than a positive feeling of 8 or 9.

Think about your business or personal situation right now. What are the three most important actions you need to take today to move your business or personal situation forward?

Business or Personal Issue

Priority Level

Motivation Level

Rank each issue with a priority level of very low, low, high, or very high.  A very low priority is one that is not urgent, while a very high priority issue would be something you cannot put off another day.

Now think about your level of motivation to begin and complete the task.  Rank each issue with a motivation level of very low, low, high, or very high.  Remember, this exercise will only work if you are completely honest with yourself. Does your motivation equal the priority of this issue?

What have you found?   In most cases I have found the priority and motivation levels can be miles apart when I’ve actually tested the levels using kinesiology. This is because while you generally lie to yourself, your body does not lie and will respond accordingly.

A kinesiological test can determine just how motivated you are.   When the outcome of the test is strong on the priority level but weak on the motivation level – it comes as no surprise that things don’t get done and crises occur.
